Systems & Network AvailabilityThe following describes the standard outage windows for the centralized systems and network infrastructure at Arizona State University. Daily On-Line Availabilty:Mainframe on-lines such as Administrative Database, SIS and CICS database applications such as (HRMS, DARS, Cashiering and Advantage) are unavailable:
myASU is unavailable to users from 3:00 AM to 4:30 AM on a daily basis. The ASU System Status Web site may be unavailable every evening from 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM. Daily - 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM:Minor upgrades & maintenance. This time is reserved for Data Communications engineers to perform preventive maintenance on network switching equipment and other equipment which has an impact to a relatively small number of customers. These outages are planned and are pre-announced by the Network Outages announcement group at http://announce.asu.edu/. Outages during this time frame may range from a small group of connections to segments of a building. Wednesdays - 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM:Major upgrades & maintenance. This time is reserved for Data Communications engineers to perform preventive maintenance on major campus routing or switching equipment. These outages are planned and are pre-announced by the Network Outages announcement group at http://announce.asu.edu/. Outages during this time frame may range from a single building to campus quadrants. Fridays - 8:00 PM to Saturdays - 2:00 AM:This window is reserved for routine maintenance on a majority of the centrally supported servers. Servers are classified into 2 distinct categories, those supporting Academic endeavors and those supporting Administrative functions. Academic servers such as general, research cluster, medusa, etc can be taken down anytime after 8:00 PM. Administrative servers such as Prod1, the Enterprise environment and the Webapp servers can be taken down anytime after 9:15 PM. Monthly Maintenance (3rd weekend):This window is reserved for IBM mainframe system maintenance and the following servers: APP1, CAS1, CAS2, CAS3, CAS4, CAS5, CYBERCASH, DB2GATE, DB2REP, DEPT1, ENTERPRISE1, ENTERPRISE2, any of the FIREWALL's, GATEWAY1, GATEWAY2, SUNDIAL, WEBAPPS, WWW-SEC and WWW1. Maintenance can consist of upgrades, patches or updates. Outages on the mainframe are planned and are pre-announced by the Mainframe Outages announcement group at http://announce.asu.edu/. Outages on the Course Applicability System are planned and are pre-announced by the CAS announcement group at http://announce.asu.edu/. |
